Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, said that the government has set a deadline for itself to implement the 12 recommendations – the end of June, so as not to leave even a reason for not granting the status of an EU candidate in December.
About this, as writes “European Truth”, reports “Georgia Online”.
As Irakli Kobakhidze noted in an interview with journalists, in December Europe must make a political decision, and when it comes to a political decision, “the chances are 50/50.”
According to him, the government hopes that this year, unlike last year, the European Parliament will make a fair decision and Georgia will receive candidate status.
“There are 12 points, the reforms are being implemented. Absolutely all points will be fulfilled by the end of June. This is our plan, which we presented to the Georgian society about a year ago. They said that by the end of this month, by the end of June, all points will be fulfilled without fail. We are clearly fulfilling a promise given to the Georgian society and the European Commission,” Kobakhidze said.
He stated that the status of the candidate belonged to Georgia in June last year, which was confirmed by the European Commission.
“We will be fully prepared to receive candidate status in December, but now a political decision is being made. When the decision is political, the chances are always 50/50. The political context has not changed significantly since June last year, but we still hope to receive this status. We must wait for the December decision , and we hope that this time, unlike last year, they will make a fair decision,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
As reported, students of Tbilisi State University pelted the chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, with banknotes of Russian rubles printed out, hinting at the pro-Russian course that the Georgian authorities have taken.
