Ukraine and the United States Want to Achieve the Arrest of Foreign Assets of PMC “Wagner”

They want to deprive them of resources to finance hostilities in Ukraine.

Ukrainian and American prosecutors are working on mechanisms to seize foreign assets of the Russian PMC Wagner.

This was announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin during a meeting with his American counterpart Merrick Garland as part of a working visit to the United States. According to him, the countries are united by the goal of ensuring accountability for international crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine.

Another priority he called bringing the Wagner Group to justice. “Our duty is to deprive this criminal organization of resources to finance hostilities in Ukraine and further undermine peace and security in the world,” Kostin said.

The Prosecutor General welcomed the US decision to appoint its prosecutor to the International Center for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression, which will start operating in The Hague in the summer on the basis of Eurojust. In addition, he noted the decision of the US Department of Justice to appoint a permanent legal adviser in Kyiv, which in turn will strengthen cooperation with the FBI.

Recall that yesterday the Russian human rights organization Gulagu.net published a conversation with the “Wagnerites” – the invaders confessed to the executions and murders of military personnel and civilian Ukrainians.

The Office of the Prosecutor General said that they were beginning to verify information about the murder of Ukrainian children by militants. Foreign law enforcement officers should also join this investigation.

Recently it became known that Wagner mercenaries tortured a peaceful Ukrainian, passing him off as a “mercenary” from Georgia.

In Ukraine, PMC “Wagner” is recognized as an international criminal organization. The United States declared them a transnational criminal organization.
